A.M. Machine Co., Inc.

History

A.M. Machine was started in 1970 by David Mascher Sr. and Joe Askamit, 2 young entrepreneurs eager to build a company capable of manufacturing some of the most complex parts at the time. They began by manufacturing tool and dies and eventually began designing and manufacturing custom machinery. The company quickly became unable to keep up with the demand, forcing them to hire employees. They set high standards for their products, employees, and themselves, creating a reputation that laid a foundation for years to come.

Joe Askamit eventually decided to retire, leaving Dave Mascher Sr. full ownership. Working up to 18 hours a day, Dave was committed to building upon the reputation they had begun. He would go on to buy a CNC lathe with live tooling, one of only two in the state of Indiana at that time. While investing in the latest technology and machinery, Dave would go on to hire more employees and grow the business while keeping the standards the business was built on in 1970; Quality and On-Time deliveries!

Sadly, on January 28, 2016, Dave Mascher Sr. would pass away, leaving the company to his sons David Mascher Jr. and Dean Mascher, who spent most of their lives working for the company. Dave Jr. began working at A.M. Machine at the age of 13, and Dean worked side by side with Dave Sr. throughout much of his life, learning the internal aspects of the business from his father. This would give them the skills to carry on their father's legacy. Today, you can still see Dave Mascher Sr.'s fingerprints on practically every part of the business.

At the beginning of 2026, Dave Mascher Jr. announced his retirement. As of February 13, 2026, after more than 50 years of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication, Dave Jr. has made the decision to begin the next chapter of his life.

Providing products world-wide

The products machined at our facility are used in industries across the globe. Many of the parts are assembled and used in countries overseas; including Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, South Korea, and many more.  As we continue to show why American manufacturing is the most sought-after and reliable products worldwide, we believe it is necessary to keep a close relationship and help our partners across the globe to ensure a better future.

Long and Short Run Production

Our company has a wide array of machinery available which allows us to produce both long and short run production. This allows us to keep the cost to our customers low while still providing the quality they desire. With the capability to design, engineer, manufacture, laser engrave and assemble parts complete in our facility from start to finish, we are able to provide parts that are ready for our customers to put in their showroom and sell.

Over the years we have developed and kept close relationships with many customers by communicating throughout the manufacturing process and keeping them informed step by step. This allows them the ability to more accurately schedule deliveries to their customers and eliminates any issues due to miscommunication.

In some instances, we have dedicated a group of machines to a "cell" that manufactures a particular part or family of parts year-round, ensuring we meet the demands of our customers and supply quality products on time and consistently.
